Namakkal - Kolli Hills

O n th e Republic day after watching flag hoi sting on TV a t around 12:30 PM le ft Chennai and travelled towards south TN , post the Jallikattu protests. We wanted to get a feeler on the Jallikattu fever an d dry farming. We reached Namakkal via Vizhupuram - Trichy by 8 PM. Near to Salem , this town is famous for egg and p oultry business . Namakkal Anchaneyar brings lots of pilgrims to thi s place. Being  densely populated with business community the place is buzz with shopping centers .  We checked in to Hotel Sanu in ternational, booked online before starting from Chennai. Ro om was decent enough for the cost while food was not up to the quality .  Thathathreya Temple The next day saw us leaving to Kolli hills after the very simple complimentary b reakfast at the hotel . வாழிய செந்தமிழ் வாழ்கநற்றமிழர்! வாழிய பாரத மணித்திருநாடு! -Bharathiyaar The whole world watched in awe how a protest can be held in a peaceful manner with almost dignity. The protestation of Tamilians can serve as a model to any group protest across the globe. This protest had high standard - no individuals were crowned as leaders, both genders had equal participation in the common social cause, and it was non-violent. The peaking of bravery is non-violence and the young Tamilians only demonstrated this for more than 5 days. None of the public property were damaged, in fact the liter at the Marina beach was cleaned by these people. Under the watchful of the 24/7 media the protestors just excelled in their behavior sending strong signal to the world. This paved way for Tamilians at various parts of the globe to unite and express their solidarity as well. As Indians each of us got the true taste of what democracy is. Tharangambadi

Tharangambadi was on e place we wanted to visit for sometime. Beach   Fort Tharangambadi or Tranquebar was a former Danish colony located in the coastal district of Nagapatinam.   Temple Notice at temple W e had to drive around 270 kms to reach this place. While traveling via Pondycherry it took more than 5 hours to reach Tharangambadi.  B ungal o w on the beach, the place we stayed offere d a fantastic ambience but the w eather played a spoilsport , still the place was worth a visit. 

Kaasi Vishwanathar Temple

While passing through butt road to Guindy railway stati on happened to see the Kaasi Vishwanathar Kovil board and wa nted to visit for a long time. Finally the time arrived thi s Saturday evening. Tucked insi de the s mall street just before the signal to reach the kathipara flyover , this is a n old temple. Having rain ed just before going inside the praharam was filled with water near the Kodi maram. As you go inside the main san ctum is quite small unlike anci ent te mples. Sivan bestowed his darsha n in velli kapu with Naga cr own. On either side of him were his son s. To the right was the ambal. Once ou t of this main deity's sanctum to the left side one can see the Anjaneya and Ayyappan.
